The performance of metal materials are generally divided into processing property and useful performance. The so-called process performance refers to the mechanical parts in the manufacturing process, the metal materials in the cold and hot processing conditions under the performance of performance.

The good or bad performance of metal materials , wiill determines the forming process in the manufacturing process. In the machinery manufacturing industry, usually mechanical parts are used in normal temperature and pressure and non-strong corrosive media.In the process, mechanical parts will also be subject to the role of different loads.Metal materials in the load under the performance will show resistance ability to damage, known as mechanical properties.

The mechanical properties of metal materials are the main basis for the design and selection of partsof lathe machine. Commonly used mechanical properties include: strength, plasticity, hardness, impact toughness, multiple impact resistance and fatigue limit.
